Reuniting With Estranged Friends

Last year I reunited with a dear friend who I had not spoken to in over 8 years. I never thought we would speak to each other again far less become close friends. However, that is exactly what happened. When we reconnected it was as though we had never stopped speaking; we fell into our comfortable relationship again just like before the cracks in our friendship forced us apart.

I know how it feels to fail at something. My response was to curl up in bed for a while and pity myself. Not everyone reacts that way when they don’t achieve a goal. Some follow mantras such as ‘failure is the back door to success’ and ‘failure is not fatal’. This empowers them to keep going and try again. I had to wallow in my disappointment until an alternative project came along that I could sink my teeth into.
