It's Terrible, It's Wonderful, So What?

The truth is that the quality of our lives is determined not by our experience but by our points of view of our experience. This suggests that you have the ability to control the quality of your life to the extent you can get unstuck from any negative point of view. The next exercise will give you some practice in that.

Pick out a specific, recurring problem in your life. Something in your life that upsets you time and again.

Getting A Summer Job You’ll Love

It is summer time which equates to VACATION. You will have long days of sleeping in late, going to the beach, hanging with friends and having just a lazy, easy going, stress-free time. However, as my gran would say the devil finds things for idle hands.

Are You A Mooch?

No one appreciates a mooch. You know that person who never tries to pay their own way and is always looking for hand-outs. We try to avoid them at all costs. They drain your emotion, energy, spirit and oftentimes your pockets. It becomes increasingly difficult when that mooch is someone you love like family or a close friend.

Dealing With Difficult People

My “friend”, we will call him John, once signed into MSN Messenger as another friend who we will call Mike. Mike had previously been a confidant who knew all my secrets. As Mike, John listened while I confided several secrets without informing me that he was not Mike and even probed me with questions, making me reveal even more because of the trust I held for Mike.

Reuniting With Estranged Friends

Last year I reunited with a dear friend who I had not spoken to in over 8 years. I never thought we would speak to each other again far less become close friends. However, that is exactly what happened. When we reconnected it was as though we had never stopped speaking; we fell into our comfortable relationship again just like before the cracks in our friendship forced us apart.

Recovering From Failure

Recovering From Failure

I know how it feels to fail at something. My response was to curl up in bed for a while and pity myself. Not everyone reacts that way when they don’t achieve a goal. Some follow mantras such as ‘failure is the back door to success’ and ‘failure is not fatal’. This empowers them to keep going and try again. I had to wallow in my disappointment until an alternative project came along that I could sink my teeth into.

How To Uproot Your Unhappiness

There are some days when I drop into fits of unhappiness at how unfulfilling my life is professionally, personally and spiritually. I could not change my outlook until one day a friend helped me gain perspective by allowing me to map out a plan for my future. This helped me in that while the source of my sadness is still current, I have a plan to change that and am working earnestly to execute it.

Spring Clean Your Mind & Body

With the daylight hours getting longer, we definitely start to feel that spring is in the air. It’s funny how we feel the need to clean the house, clean out our closet, and make a fresh start before summer catches up with us. Especially after winter, there is this need for cleaning and getting rid of any clutter. You can start by cleaning up your home, reorganizing your paperwork and getting rid of old clothes. But how do you go about de-cluttering your mind or your body?

Great Ways To Ease Anxiety

It is natural to worry or be a bit anxious about what the future holds. In some circumstances, this may be justified such as when you have an exam you did not study for and you are now worried that you may fail. However, many times we worry about situations we have no control over and then fail to take positive action to advance our goals in life.
