New Year's Eve Style Ideas

The time is coming to pick out that perfect look for New Year's Eve festivities. Sometimes it can be a little tough to decide how to choose a look that is both flattering and helps you to stand apart from the crowd. Whether you're going clubbing, to a dinner or a cocktail party, here are some ideas to help you choose your ideal look.

Floral dress with sheer overlay

This dress would be perfect for a cocktail party

Cocktail parties have become popular events for New Year's Eve. Cocktail dresses are usually the go-to look for this but let's try to think a little outside of the box. Sheer is so in and it's an easy way to look youthful and trendy but still maintain your soft, feminine aesthetic. A high waisted sheer pants (be sure to have the appropriate areas covered) in a colour of your choice, paired with a sleeveless top would make for a great look! Cute charm bracelets, see-through cuffs with subtle embellishments or pearl bracelets make a cute feminine finish for your cocktail look.

Another way to go would be a floral cocktail dress with a sheer overlay. Shimmering silver heels and a bright statement necklace would add that festive flair.

Want something a little less daring? A strapless top and well fitting capri pants with a pair of pumps is a good choice.

For a subtle dinner look, one may go for a strapless peplum dress that fits perfectly at the knee for a feminine form.

Blue long dress

A long blue dress would be an elegant choice for dinner

Want a bit more covering? A long dress with a low back has the same level of sophistication. Keep it young and a bit trendy with a statement gem bracelet and thin square bangles.

If you want a more glamorous look, try a Grecian style dress with a chunky gold necklace. Keep the rest of the jewellery minimal but impactful. A simple gold cuff and a ring would suffice. You could even try a mermaid tail dress, which is known to flatter most shapes and sizes, due to its focus on an hourglass silhouette. This would be more suitable for an upscale dinner.

Orange jumpsuit

A bright jumpsuit would be fun for the club!

To my club bangers, one can never go wrong with a jumpsuit that hugs in the right places and gives a great silhouette. Don't be afraid to go bold. It's all about colour! Forget your boring, traditional black and gold. We are in the festive Caribbean, so bring vibrancy to your look! Bold, colourful prints or a bright, fluorescent colour make a great statement. To avoid looking like a kaleidoscopic mess, balance your outfit with nude stiletto pumps (round or peep toe), minimal jewellery (a few chunky bangles) and a solid colour envelope clutch.

You could also make a statement with sequinned coral or turquoise shorts, matched with an understated top with a peter pan collar. You could amp up the jewellery a bit with this look because the only distraction would be the shorts and due to the peter pan collar on the top, a necklace is usually out of the question.

Sequinned romper

A sequinned romper is also a great and easy look for clubbing on New Year's Eve. Put it together with a double finger cross ring, long jewel encrusted earrings and pointy tip stilettos to give this look the right edge for any fashion diva.

If you're feeling unsure, you can always stick to the never-failing little black dress!

No matter your fashion choice for New Year's Eve, be sure to take into consideration your body proportions, the length of the garment, the colour of the fabric, tailoring and styling. Any of these could make or break a potentially great look.
