Monokinis Are In!

Move over two-piece, and get out of the way boring whole piece! Make room for the sexy and very fashionable monokini; it is here to stay, and it is especially hot this summer.

First introduced in 1964 by Austrian-American fashion designer Rudi Gernreich, the monokini unfortunately didn’t make much of an impact back then, as it was criticized for being way too radical, designed to expose a woman’s bare breast.

Fast-forward to Summer 2010 and some major adjustments, the monokini is considered a must have in any woman’s wardrobe. This risqué (depending on the style) swimsuit features a cutout design, with the top and bottom pieces connected by thin straps, laces, mesh, metal accessories or any other combination. While it is definitely more flattering that a two-piece if you’re looking to minimize a bit of flab, you must choose the cut wisely and make sure it fits properly.
